On that day of Pentecost, there were people from fifteen different parts of the world, each group, heard them speak in their native tongues. Among them, were proselytes – gentiles converted to Judaism! -- They heard one hundred and twenty people speak in other tongues, many of them spoke their languages, but even more were spoken, what a mighty miracle! It takes sense and intellect to speak a language, some languages are harder to learn than others. I came to England as a student not knowing English. I had to sit in the classroom and with many other did not understand a word spoken by the prof. here month after I had my first exam. I tried hard to learn ten words a day, and revised them under my blanket with a torch. First thing in the morning I revised them! It took me months to learn it, I still speak it with my own accent! It shows that in these people dwelt the Holy Spirit and that they spoke under His direction as it is written: ‘All of them (hundred and twenty) were filled and began to speak in other tongues (languages) as the Holy Spirit enabled them.’ I will not go into details, but many have been filled since and still are to this day, just as it happened on that day of Pentecost! I am one of those that know what it is all about. It happened when I was about seventeen, I spoke in an unknown language with six others filled with the Holy Spirit on the same night, seven of us spoke in tongues, not just for a minute, it went on for quite a while. To this very day I speak in tongues whenever comes the anointing! Speaking in tongues is a sign, a proof that in the heart dwells the Holy Spirit. It is a permanent infilling, renewed on occasions. I find it especially a big help in my prayer life. For when I pray in the Spirit my prayer is free from the limits of my mind and the Holy Spirit, as says the Scriptures, prays according to the will of God!

Now as in those days there are critics today, if there were no opposition it would not be from Christ, for Satan only uses men to ridicule what Jesus is or what He says or does, so as today there were: ‘Some, however, made fun of them and said: ‘They have had too much wine! Then Peter Stood up with the eleven, raised His voice and addressed the crowd: Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem; let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning. No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. (Peter meant on those that are converted to Jesus Christ) Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. (Acts 2: 14-18) To prophesy is to speak under the inspiration of the Holy-Spirit.

There is so much more I could say about this great baptism, for it changed these fearful disciples into fearless men. Look at the boldness of Peter, few days ago he was with other behind locked doors, for fear of the Jews! But, as you read on the Book of Acts, you will understand that this infilling with the Holy Spirit, was also Jesus’s anointing of His disciples for the work of the ministry which is the Evangelising of the world, that still goes on today. This is what Peter said: ‘God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted at the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.’ (Acts 2: 32-33)

The baptism in the Holy Spirit, which was experienced by Jesus the Son of God after He was baptised by John the Baptist, was His anointing too, for it was straight after that He started preaching the Gospel, I have made mention of this in previous ‘LINKS’. He lived for many years in Nazareth and It was when He was thirty years of age that after John baptised Him, that the Holy Spirit came upon Him. I have come to this point to declare that it is a necessity, at least in the words of Jesus Christ, that this anointing, which is the baptism in the Holy Spirit, is an appointment to the ministry. It gives to the man called of God, divine authority, equipment, and power for the preaching of the Gospel, and whatever ministry one may have in the Church of Jesus Christ. The reason that all hundred and twenty were baptised is the proof that the whole Church of Christ is in the ministry, which manifests itself with various functions in the body of Christ; but this subject belongs to another study. Which I call ‘THE CHURCH – THE BODY OF CHRIST.’ Each member Has a function in this spiritual body of which Christ is the head! Therefore, it means that each function must have the Holy-Spirit unction, and the function that each member has in the Church is not of its own choosing!
