The conclusion to this unique calling is that the servants of Christ, whoever they may be, receive a unique gift from their Master, Jesus Christ. Remember, that I mentioned how serious it was for the Lord to choose His twelve apostles; He spent all night in prayer, and in the morning chosen twelve from amongst them. I mention this because the Lord did not call them from the University in Jerusalem! They were fishermen, tax collectors, men from the working class. As far as the clergy in Jerusalem and the elders, rulers of the nation, they despised them, like they despised Jesus. In Acts chapter 3 and 4, is recorded how Peter and John, in the name of Jesus, healed a crippled man from birth. He sat daily at a gate of the Temple called: ‘Beautiful’. I cannot now go into details, enough to say that the miracles stirred the people of Jerusalem, for they saw the crippled man, whom they recognised: entering the temple courts, walking, jumping and praising God. They were all filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened. If you have a Bible, you can find the whole amazing story, read it and meditate on it, for as I have, you will find a lot of truth and some amazing points of doctrine! Now, Peter and John got into trouble with the authorities which put them into jail. It is written: ‘They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead! Nevertheless! Many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.’ (Acts 4: 2-4)

In the morning all the important high-ranking rulers met and got them to appear before the Sanhedrin, which for fear of the people, tried to stop them to preach any longer in the Name of Jesus, but they obviously could not obey such an order for they were told by the Lord to preach the Gospel, and so they did. What I am driving at, because I have cut this wonderful story to mention the following: ‘When, they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unlearned, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus!’(Acts 4: 13) Too much knowledge has kept a lot of people from entering through the narrow gate, too much baggage to leave behind, a lot to give up to follow Jesus. A few have, but the majority have a lot of opposition to yield, their learning has taken them over and they have become hostages to their reason!

But, before Jesus ever came on earth, he chose to dwell and live with the humble lot, men that are to this very day trodden upon by those who are fighting their way up the social ladder! But it is from these unlearned and ignorant lot that Jesus chooses His servants! He begins to form them, sometimes long before they are conscious of His call, on occasion, even before they are saved! He chooses them from all walks of life, mainly from among the working class, and their aptitude is born from their close relationship with the Lord and the personal teaching of the Holy Spirit, it is Jesus that fills them with the Holy Spirit, whose anointing fits them for the ministry! The last point in all the process I have been following ends with the necessity of this anointing! If Jesus, the Son of the living God, received this anointing before he started His public ministry, (Acts 10: 37-38) how can a man, entering this most holy enterprise, preach the Gospel without being filled with the Holy Spirit and not know His appointment initiated by the baptism in the Holy Spirit? Their aptitude is spiritual, their understanding enlightened by the Truth. Though still in a human body, they are fitted for another world, sons of God, born of Him, vessels that God uses to accomplish the impossible. This proves how important to the Lord is sound doctrine, which many overlook and find that they do not need it. Yet, without sound doctrine, which Jesus received from God, His Father, and in turn taught His disciples, none can get this faith, which is God’s gift that leads to the salvation of those that will humbly accept that ‘Christ died for our sins.’ (I Corinthians 15) So, telling forth this sound, God given doctrine, insisting on the smallest detail of the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ and His holy Apostles, is, in the end, the only way to be saved from the curse, to proper spiritual growth of the Church and each of its members.
