It follows, after what I wrote in the last paragraph of the previous ‘link’, that such preachers, by their wilful ignorance of the Gospel, close to untold numbers of people the possibility of salvation! Concerning this divine Gospel, the apostle Paul says: ‘I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (it): first for the Jews, then for the Gentile. For in the Gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’ (Romans 1: 16-17) You cannot earn it however pious you may be! For no other message can convict a sinner of his sins and lead him to conversion for the saving of his soul, for the Holy Spirit will not bear testimony to it!

I have heard of people being saved after finding a tract in the gutter, thrown away by people who were not interested of its content, so powerful is even a sentence of the Gospel, a living proof that the Word of God alone has creative power! A tract does not just happen to be, someone, led by the Holy Spirit wrote it, it had to contain the truth; it could have been just a verse from the New Testament, and a short explanation, but it was enough to convict the person and lead her to the Lord! There are various ways of spreading the Good News. Everyone must have heard the saying: The power of the pen is stronger than the sword.’ Some travellers have found a Bible in the drawer of the bedside table in the room of their hotel. Bibles that were left there by the Gideons, people who took it upon themselves to leave one in hotels that allowed them to! Such is the power of the Holy Spirit, as he breathes on the living word of God! 

After centuries of spreading the Good News, there are still areas on earth where people have never heard the Gospel, and never will! Why? Firstly, because they can only be saved if they hear the Gospel from a preacher sent by his Master, the Lord Jesus Christ; or by some others mean, as mentioned above! Secondly, they cannot hear it because preaching Jesus Christ is prohibited in their lands, preachers of the Gospel are not allowed into their countries. Having said that about some parts of the world, yet, even in countries labelled as Christian, prejudices are so strong, and religious practices so rooted in, that millions of people will never hear the real truth about Jesus Christ, and the true meaning of the CROSS, and what ended and started on it through the death of the Son of God. The Cross of Christ proclaims that God’s free gift is eternal life through faith in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Although it is God’s free gift, this new life is only given to those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus and believed that He died for their sins; only His blood, shed on the cross can wash sins away!

The cross, as far as the wood is concerned is no more, rotten long ago, but spiritually the CROSS is a meeting point between a sinner and Jesus Christ. The preaching of the Cross is very real, it calls a man to find what really happened on it, and why. It is also the place where a man finds who he really is, a criminal, for a sinner is by nature an enemy of God by wicked works, and sin that masters him, is a destroyer. This is why the preaching of the Cross is foolishness, especially to those that think that they are cleverer than God and those that believe in Christ.

Therefore, the conversion of a man cannot be created by clever thinking. It is sad but it is a fact that most scientists are godless and use their God given gift to ridicule those that have believed in the Gospel, whose power is in the preaching of the CROSS! The apostle Paul was chosen by Christ to take the Gospel to the Gentiles, meaning all that are not Jews! To the Church in Corinth, which he established, years later he wrote to them the following, to remind them that what he preached to them then, is still what he preached right up to the end of his life: ‘For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to preach the Gospel – not with words of human wisdom, lest the CROSS of Christ be emptied of its power. For the message of the CROSS is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are saved it is the power of God!’ (1Corinthians 1: 17-18) Two thousand years after, to this very day, it still is the only message that leads sinners to repentance and the new and eternal life! It will also do it in you, if you accept Him as your Saviour and Lord!
