Returning to the epistle Paul wrote to the Romans, we find certain important points in the tenth chapter, that will help the development of our subject, I want to turn to them to bring out the emphasis the Holy Spirit puts, on what we can call the mechanics and purpose of preaching. Men today have been brain washed by state Churches, puppets of various governments, so much so that the spiritual state of most people is limited to a moralistic piety, totally subjected to their own understanding of a god, and know not the real and only God, of whom Jesus Christ is the Son, and the only way to Him. This has led to the sad reality that there are now many gods, each one limited to what an individual believes is his god.

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit the apostle Paul prophesied as to the spiritual state of what the world will be like just before Jesus returns to earth! He wrote to Timothy a young pastor whom he loved as his own son, saying: ‘But mark this: There will be terrible times in the lasts days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them! (2 Timothy 3: 1-5) Although it was written centuries ago, yet, the apostle describes a moral state that befits perfectly the mentality and state of the world in general as it is today! All the evil he mentions about the state of the world in general, does not apply to everybody, some may be lovers of money more than other, and so on, not all are killers, not all are thieves, for sin manifest itself in different ways and degrees, as stated by the apostle Paul, yet in such a world men have a form of godliness, under different labels, but there is, even in what appears seemingly praise worthy empty, God is not in it, meaning God the Father of Jesus Christ, as I have mentioned, thus even the best of men, in such a world is a condemned sinner. Sin is in every man born of a woman; it has corrupted everybody! Yet, from this corrupted mass of humanity, God is still saving men by the preaching of the Gospel, which does not always come from a pulpit, yet it leads men to the CROSS, the meeting point where lives change forever!

Thus, the first statement I want to take is the following: ‘If you confess with your mouth: ‘JESUS IS LORD’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. As the Scripture says: Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile -- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’ (Romans 10: 9-13) These verses bring out the conditions set out to lead men, chosen before the foundation of the earth, back to God, and reveal clearly the purpose of preaching, which is a proclamation of the Gospel, and that the aim of the Holy Spirit, by the preaching of it, is to reveal and emphasise the Lordship of Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God, and that as such, He offered Himself to die on a Cross, giving ,by His physical death, on that CROSS, the true meaning to His love for all those

that God gave Him before He ever came on earth. This is why, that at the beginning of this study, after I asked the questions: ‘Who is a Christian’ and ‘What is Christian’, I have emphasized that before we can answer those vital questions we must discover, ‘Who Jesus truly is’. It is vital to know who He is and confess it with your mouth: ‘JESUS IS LORD’ and believed it forever; for it is written: ‘If you confess with your mouth: ‘JESUS IS LORD’ Which means that He is ‘Jehovah – in Hebrew ‘Yahweh’ that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. This does not just come as words that we may just pronounce, but it must firstly sowed and born in the heart by the Holy Spirit, for without confessing Him as such, no man can come to know who Jesus is, for by His touch new life is birthed in the heart, and man is enabled to believe, it is followed by a conviction of sins and faith is born in the hearts of all that are saved; then man can truly confess as Peter did: ‘Thou art the Christ the son the living God.’! This is the purpose God has, to reveal to a lost humanity, that without true repentance, man remains lost in trespasses and sins; without God and without hope in the world!
