Having mentioned an important part of the first chapter of Romans, I draw your attention to the second chapter of this epistle, in which it becomes obvious that what I mentioned previously, from the first chapter, concerns Jews and Gentiles, but in the second chapter Paul is especially addressing himself especially to the state of the Jews who, proud as a peacock, always think that they are above the rest of humanity, as they still do! I will therefore mention what he writes about them, stating clearly that, in the eyes of Almighty God, they are as bad as every gentile nations which they despise.
The Holy Spirit clearly states that they are wrong to think what they do, for they have fallen into the mud of corruption as much as the gentiles, whom they still view as ‘dogs! The whole argument about man’s guilt, and divine condemnation, whether he be a Gentile or a Jew, starts in chapter one verse eighteen and ends in chapter three verse thirty-three of that epistle. I shall take some extracts, but if you have a Bible you might want to see the whole picture, so read and meditate upon it, for truth liberates, whereas a lie must be supported by another lie, and binds a liar to the eternal pit! That is why there is such confusion in the world today! Essentially, God calls a liar a man who changes the true meaning of His word, or interprets it to suit his fallen nature! What the Jews thought of themselves, in the days of Christ and the disciples, is seen today not only between diverse religious bigotries, but more so amongst various Christian confessions. Man has not changed; centuries have passed yet self-righteous people are still very present and cause divisions wherever they are present. I found that they are the hardest to repent and humble themselves to confess that they are lost sinners, ready for judgment day! So, it is written:
‘You, therefore, have no excuse, you (Jew) who pass judgement on someone else for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same thing. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth, So, when you, a mere man pass judgment on them (Gentiles) and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realising that God’s kindness leads you towards repentance? (Romans 2: 1-4)
I have mentioned previously, this kind of spiritual pride reciprocates itself in the so-called Christian world. There
is, this kind of prestige among people of one confession as against another, in some way they are, altogether, worse than the Jews. I have encountered it time and again, it is found to a degree in every branch of the human Church, but more so with the Roman Catholic Church, in some way they are worse than were the Jews, for what reason? it is hard to say, for scripture condemns all men, saying: ‘For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.’ (Romans 3: 23) The apostle Paul continues with his argument against the Jews.
‘Now you, if you call yourself a Jew, if you rely on the Law and brag about your relationship to God, if you know His will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the Law, if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth – you, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who brag about the Law, do you dishonour God by breaking the Law? As it is written: God’s name in blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you’. ‘A man is not a Jew if he is only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward or physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. (This happens to all those that are born again by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ) Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.’ (Romans 2: 28-29) So, finally, in God’s eyes, a Jew or a Gentile, is a condemned sinner. His lot will not be decided when he dies, he is now lost and without hope, that is why I mention again the following verse which declares: ‘For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God! (Romans 3: 23).

My name is Edouard Jankowski and In September 1953 I landed on British soil. I was then nineteen years of age, and my destination was the I.B.T.I. (International Bible Training Institute) situated in Burgess-Hill, West Sussex. I did not realise when I arrived at the College, how my life was about to change for the better.
