The appearance of Christ in a human glorified body, was the beginning of events that would happen very quickly, and in some ways, they still continue today, it will be so until Christ actually comes to take to heaven all those who through centuries trusted themselves to Him, and believed that he died for their sins! Jesus had to say many things to people that followed Him, being with them, He had important things to tell them, and that he would return for them, as He mentioned it clearly for the first time in the upper room, a truth amplified right through the new Testament. He saw that what He said troubled them, but He had more to tell them so before he continued, He said: ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust God, trust also in me. In my father house are many rooms (mansion in the KJV- I like that better, because it is massive property) if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go And prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be with me where I am.’ (John 14:13)

Read it, it is the greatest event that is still to happen, ignored by too many! Things that Jesus prophesied, and His apostles! All the events that are happening in the world today, especially in Palestine, should be seen in the light of Old Testament and New Testament prophecies, and eventually men will see the establishment of a New World order, with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, reigning from Jerusalem over the whole world for a thousand years.

Following the death of our Lord, was at a time of great stress, they had completely forgotten what Jesus told them concerning His resurrection, and what would follow. I reckon that they were in deep conversation, after that Mary Magdalene, and, other women, saw Him alive, an astonishing news which at first, they took with a pinch of salt, as we say! In the room where the disciples lived afraid to go out, they were felt perplexed, and discussed the happenings of the morning, having heard the women that had seen Jesus alive. I can sympathise with them, because this news added, to what already happened, left them numb, unable to make any sense of it all. Gathered together in the Upper Room, the apostles looked to Peter, to say the right thing, but he had no words of wisdom, and like them all, was bereft and could not make any sense of what they lived through during the last forty-eight hours! 

From their midst, early in the afternoon of Sunday, two left them, to attend to some business no doubt, and walked to a village called Emmaus, a village about eleven miles from the city! Zebedee, the father of James and John, had a flourishing business in Jerusalem, or near it. Zebedee had his own boat, and the main part of his enterprise was delivering fish from Galilee to the capital. It is possible that the apostle John was with Cleopas, whom Luke names as one of the two, and left having had to attend to a delivery of fish from Galilee, being the first day of the week, they must have had a good reason for leaving the disciples, in a very stressful time! It is also the reason why John was well known by the Jews, who knows, could be right into Herod’s palace?

It was, as they harried on their way, that Jesus alive from the dead, joined them, and started to walk along with them, as I mentioned it, but it is written: ‘that they were kept from recognising Him.’ I won’t go into what is a long story; if you want to read it you will find it written in Luke 24: 13-33. What I will mention, is that Jesus showed them from the Scriptures that what He suffered, and His death was prophesied, and: ‘beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He explained to them what was said in all Scriptures concerning Himself.’ (Luke 24: 27) I cannot imagine what a sad, hopeless world it would be, if we did not have the Scriptures. It is mentioned that as Jesus spoke to them, that the effect of His words was like fire. It is this fire that makes the Bible a unique book.
