In His Prayer (John 17) Jesus makes it very clear that a big change happened to all His disciples, for He says to God that: ‘I have revealed you to those you have given me out of the world. SO, every man and woman, in whatever state He is, does belong to God, just as all the Universe is His. The apostle Paul says in his message to the Athenians: ‘God made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth … He, Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. Acts 17: 25-26)) So Jesus confirms it and says: ‘They were yours and you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.’ (John 17: 6-7) So the big change, therefore, happens when one obeys the WORD! And as such every convert belongs to Jesus, and from a mortal being became immortal! Christians! we must never forget this, for some I have met act as if they dropped down from heaven! 

Somes Christians, before believing in the Lord, were upright people, but others were not! but all were dead in sin, without hope and without God in the world. In the epistle to the Ephesians the apostle Paul says clearly to Christians there: ‘As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of the world and of the ruler of the of the kingdom of the air, the spirit (Satan) who is now at work in those who are disobedient.’ (Ephesians 2: 1-2) It follows that not anybody can recite, what is called the Lord’s prayer, and say: ‘Our Father in heaven’, because God is only a Father to those that He gave to Jesus, people that have believed in Him! 

Therefore, a sinner has to go through the change that is wrought by the preaching of the Gospel, which the Holy Spirit uses, and by His power opens the eyes and brings to life people spiritually dead, as states the apostle Paul. One can have eyes in the head, be pious and religious, and see/say nothing good about Jesus Christ. This miracle of conversion, can only be wrought by the Holy Spirit; He alone gives life and sight to a man bound by sin, and leads him to Jesus Christ, the light of the world! This is why Paul wrote to Christians what he did in the verses I wrote. So, after having prayed for those that have believed in Him, present in the upper room, in Jerusalem, and those that were scattered in the land, adding also, those that would believe in Him in all future generations, until the present one. 

Jesus testified to it when to His Father He said: ‘I have revealed you (your name – Father) to those you have given me out of this world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they have accepted them … and they have believed that you sent me. (John 17: 6-8) To preach the gospel is therefore imperative to true conversion, and Peter bore witness to it when He replied as quoted previously: ‘Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.’ (John 6: 68-69) 

It bears repeating it, because too many, so called Christians do not believe it anymore, so, Jesus openly states, that He is not praying for the world of unbelievers, in fact he prays against them, for He asks His Father to protect his disciples: ‘from the world and the evil one, thus the world of men belongs to Satan! Most of what is called Christianity in many parts of the world, makes no sense whatsoever, so many activities of the flesh that appear essential to so many do-gooders, end-up being an impediment to real faith in Christ. True faith is not a belief born of the flesh; true faith is a gift from God! Therefore, I conclude that since His prayer, Jesus established clearly that humanity is divided in two entities, God’s people, the redeemed, and the world of men belonging to Satan, made up of all that have not believed that Jesus Christ died for their sins, and because of their unbelief remain slaves to the kingdom of darkness, and remain devoted enemies of Jesus Christ! Under the cloak of religion, they don’t even believe in the very existence of God, as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
