This is why Ezekiel, moved by the Holy Spirit, continues and says: ‘And I will put my Spirit (with a capital S) in you and move you to follow my decrees and keep my laws! A great, special promise for an obedient heart! (Ezekiel 36: 24-27) Therefore Ezekiel under God, concludes with these words: ‘And I will put my Spirit in you’. Firstly a ‘new spirit’ the new creation, and secondly, ‘My Spirit’ The Holy Spirit! There is obviously a very important distinction. This is what Peter said to the new converts to which he preached in Jerusalem on the day that they were baptised with the Holy Spirit: ‘Repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ A sinner, by faith in Christ becomes a son of God, he has to be a son of God before Jesus can baptise him with the Holy Spirit. For it is written: ‘Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit (Holy Spirit) who calls out ‘Abba- Father. (Galatians 4: 6) It is He that witnesses to our spirit (new spirit) that we are sons of God.

We are now entering a most exhilarating and very exciting time of prophetic fulfilments, for the coming of the Holy Spirit changed completely a hundred and twenty men into fully ‘committed’ disciples! for that is what the baptism in the Holy Spirit does. The Lord’s apostles with others, that were in Jerusalem on that day, have walked step by step with Jesus and obeyed Him to the end, five walked with Him during His first missionary journey, the others were called from the beginning of the second missionary journey; twelve in all, which Jesus called apostles, by faith in Him, together with all the other converts, they were called disciples, one hundred and twenty disciples stayed in Jerusalem, in obedience to the Lord’s commandment. For it is written that: ‘On one occasion, as Jesus was eating with them, He told them: ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about For John baptised with/in water, but in few days, (because you are sons) you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.’ (Acts 1: 4-5)

When Jesus left them and went back to heaven it is written that: ‘They returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk, about eleven hundred metres from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying.’ It is obvious that they were still traumatised from the awful experience of Christ’s death, and for the days they waited in the Upper Room, they did not really mix with the crowds that was gathering for the Feast of Pentecost, they did the year before together with Jesus. But things have changed. He  said to them that in few days they will be baptised with the Holy Spirit. We know, because it is written, that it was ten days, but they Has no clue how long it would be, and how it would happen. They did not know really what to expect!

Ten days had passed, and came the day of Pentecost! The second yearly feast! God chose that day to fulfil the promise and they were all, filled with the holy Spirit, and were set on fire! The sudden change in them was astonishing, for until then they stayed behind locked doors, for fear of what the Jews could do to them. Suddenly, baptised with the Holy Spirit they became a band of fearless, most powerful witnesses! Having arrived to the conclusion that what happened was because they were born again, true Christian, with an existing future. I think that I can venture, and ask the second part of my original question, and ask: ‘WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN. It is when a converted man realises fully who he really is, that He will behave like he should. Prince Charles, whom I saw as a small child on the balcony of Buckingham palace, when I visited London for the first time, years ago. Did not have a clue as to who he really was. It is only years later that he realised that he was the heir to the throne, of what was still then the British Empire. Now, many years after He is King Charles the third, of the United Kingdom. So, a Christian comes to the stage when as a son of God, he has become an heir and as such to be baptised with the Holy Spirit, which is the seal of Sonship, and by Him he can/must behave as a Son of God! and work for the extension of His Kingdom.
