Nevertheless, what they tried to stop, happened, and a big shock was about to reach them, because some of the guards witnessed the greatest divine intervention of God, for it is written: ‘There was a violent earthquake, for the angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone, and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead! Still shaking they run away for fear of their lives: the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that happened.’: (Matthew 28: 2-4 -- 11). It is not mentioned that the guards saw Jesus come out, for He was out already, but these murderers, when the guards told them what happened early that morning, realised that what Jesus said took place, for it was the third day, on which they told Pilate, Jesus said that He would rise again! How wonderful! Halleluiah! Of all the miracles this is the greatest, for it never happened before. By the power of God Jesus was raised from the dead! And in Heaven, sitting at the right hand of God, He still is the only man risen from the dead.

These was great news for the disciples, but for the chief priest and the rest of the authorities, it was the last thing that they wanted to hear, for: ‘When the chief priest had met the elders, they devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them: You are to say: His disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep. If this report get to the Governor (Pilate), we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble. So, the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day. (Matthew 28: 12-15) It suits unbelievers, not only among the Jews, but many Gentiles also, to distort the greatest thing that ever happened on earth, for Jesus is still the only man that God raised from the dead, and gave Him the highest place in heaven, at His right hand of His throne in Heaven, where He is still, until The Father tells Him, to come and bring the redeemed home.

The day is coming soon, when the whole world will know that there is a God; it will happen when He sends Jesus to earth again, to sit on the throne of David; and reign over the world, ‘then every eye shall see Him, even those that pierced Him, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.’ Better believe it, and if you have not done it yet, repent of your sins, and throw your life in the hands of Christ, and He will save you. There is no other way! So, the guards run away, the women that came to anoint the body of the Lord, went back also, but Mary Magdalene lingered and continued to weep in distress, wiping her face and not knowing what to do next: ‘She turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realise that it was Jesus. ‘Woman,’ (dear Lady) why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? She was not the only woman that loved deeply her Lord and Master, Women that followed Him and ministered to Him and the apostles loved Him too, but Mary Magdalene was also deeply grateful. Matthew mentions a: Mary and the other Mary! Luke mentions, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James. Marc mentions that: Some women were watching from a distance. (From the Cross) Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed Him and cared for His needs. Many other women are mentioned, who had come up with Him to Jerusalem were also there. Marc also mentions that: ‘When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body, early in the morning just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb.’ Gathering all that the Evangelists mention, gives us a picture of the many women that attended to the Lord during His life time. But the apostle John makes only mention of Mary Magdalene, I believe He was led to do so because she: Lingered, whereas the other women left, and for it Jesus revealed Himself to her only on that first morning, and sent her with a mighty message: ‘Go to my brothers and tell them: I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: ‘I have seen the Lord! And she told them that He said these things.’ (John 20:17-18)
